Choosing Laptop
What Makes a Good Laptop?
Is it price, memory, included software or something else? Well, unfortunately it’s all of the above and it completely depends on you! And there are just so many options and features to choose from. However the best way to start shopping for a laptop is to decide what you need it for.
One of the best features to make sure your laptop is equipped with is a wireless network card since, after all, you are a buying a portable computer you should probably take advantage of broadband Internet as well!
Another important feature will be screen size. Screens come in a few different sizes; however most laptops come with a screen around 12-14 inches. A screen larger than 12.1 inches allows for higher resolutions and therefore better image quality. So unless you’re looking for something super cheap or you are in the market for a tiny laptop, choosing a larger screen is also a good option.
Hard drive size is also an important factor to consider. Do you upload or download pictures, songs and movies? Or are you planning on running a variety of programs (i.e. Adobe’s Creative Suite)? Or will you be playing computer games? In these cases you’ll need a large hard drive to keep up with your space needs. Consider also a high quality video card as well.
In any case, searching the Internet for features and doing a bit of background research will never be time wasted. With so many options and features out there it’s most important to know what you want. And don’t be afraid to find a knowledgeable tech person wherever you’re shopping! They can usually help narrow down your search as well.
